Engineers

We have a number of highly-skilled in-house engineers, who are mostly cool dudes.

Mike Smith

Studio Manager

Music Production, Sound Design, Mixing, Mastering, Radio

Mike has been a fixture of the Bath music scene for over 25 years as a vocalist/band member, producer, DJ and promoter.

An active contributor to the underground punk scene and a DJ of eclectic musical subcultures.

He has decades of gigs, tours and festivals across the UK, Europe and America under his belt, plus nearly a dozen music collectives and bands.

He moved into sound production, completing two degrees in Creative Music Technology and a Sound Production Masters at Bath Spa University focusing mainly on contemporary production techniques and acousmatic sound design based compositions.

He also has been heavily involved in the local Frome FM radio station for over 10 years, and still holds a monthly slot with his show, Basement 7.

Barnaby Collins

Volunteer Assistant Manager

Acoustic Instruments, Live Sound, Composition, Electronics & Repair

Barnaby's passion for music began with deafening his parents with a recorder at the age of 6. He has played clarinet for over 15 years, has been teaching himself drums for 7 years, started DJing 6 years ago and spent three years building a reputation as Durham's best live sound engineer whilst at university. He now plays clarinet, bass clarinet, drums, Akai EWI and occasionally fiddles about on his Novation Circuit.

Having moved to Bath with his partner, he is now co-running the studio with Mike around his day job as a software engineer. His live sound skills complement Mike's production abilities in the studio, and his passion for DIY and repair helps keep everything in working order for the studio's users.

He is also involved with a number of local orchestras and charities, including producing 3-4 arrangements per year and managing recordings for the local BathTub Orchestra.
